-
Describe yourself in three sentences.
“She has a Gypsy Soul and a Warrior Spirit. She makes no apologies for her Wild Heart. She leaves normal and regular to explore the outskirts of the magical and extraordinary.”
-
Aside from owner, what is your role at Charley Grey?
My most important role with Charley Grey is to lead, inspire, and cultivate relationships both with our team of creatives and our clients. I am responsible for cultivating new business and retaining current business by developing intuitive and inspirational messaging and marketing plans. I lead our team by keeping the work fun, challenging, and inspiring. I’m told my enthusiasm for our work (and our challenges) is what has kept Charley Grey growing year after year.
-
What does it mean to be an “Inspirational Enthusiast?
This title was given to me by my team – they watch me spark drive and enthusiasm in our clients just as much as I do in them. I tend to see the silver lining in all obstacles and can make lemonade with any lemons thrown our way. Others have coined me the perpetual optimist.
-
How did Charley Grey get its name?
The company is named after my children – Charley and Grey – who inspire me each and every day to bring joy and life into every project we do. When we are able to accomplish this it provides a return for my children and the the families and children of those that work with Charley Grey. And this is what it’s all about.
-
What is your favorite part about running a growing web development business?
By far it’s the relationships I develop along the way. We are blessed to be able to choose our clients and therefore we have a great relationship with all of them. I also enjoy working alongside our resourceful, driven team members. This company was not built by me, but rather by the collective effort of everyone on the team. I am a leader, not a boss.
-
Before starting Charley Grey, what was the most unusual job you had?
I’ve been working since I was 14 – starting at a coffee shop in Carmel. From there I have tackled many unusual things – I obtained my MCSE certification when I was 19, traded commodities at 20, modeled at 21, held a CFO position for a large general contractor and a local TPA from 22-25, obtained my RN license and worked as an ICU nurse for 18 months when I was 29, but I enjoy the complexity and variety that Charley Grey has given me the last 13 years more than anything.
I love that my eclectic career path with all of the computer, accounting, business operations, and management experience – and even nursing – has helped shape me into the versatile leader I am today.
-
What are your favorite things to do in the Indianapolis/Carmel area?
I love attending outdoor music festivals at the Ruoff Home Mortgage Center, riding around the bike trails, and trying new food. So far my favorite local restaurants are Divvy, Brockway, and Omoni Fresh – but I am always open to new recommendations!
